Columbus Snow

I promised someone on the newsgroups that I’d post some photos of the snow in Columbus from the week before last. We got 20 inches in 24 hours.

20 inches in 24 hours is a lot! Are those bumps in the second photo cars on the street? I hope the passengers made it out before getting trapped.

I don’t know the place but it doesn’t look like cars to me. Whatever is shown at the "front" of the image is shot from a short distance with the houses on a farther plane, or so it seems…

The bumps in the foreground are bushes.

I hope the city is handling it better now than they did when I lived there in the early ’90s.

I moved there from upstate NY, where 20 inches of snow in 24 hours is nothing. In ‘93 or ‘94, there was a major blizzard that hit the Eastern Seaboard that managed to dump a fair amount of snow in Columbus (IIRC, somewhere around a foot). The major roadways were cleared pretty quickly, but the secondary streets were still snowed in four or five days later; the residents were shoveling the streets by hand in order to be able to get out to go to work.
