Nick has announced that "the next release of Delphi will use MSBuild as the build engine." That’s really cool, because it’s like having a mini-FinalBuilder right in the IDE. MSBuild is managed code, which means that everyone who has been hacking up D2006 to remove the .NET framework and then complaining in the newsgroups when your refactorings and StarTeam integration stopped working need to just give up now and suffer with the cooties. Your code may be too perfect to ever refactor, but I imagine that you’re still going to need a compiler.
Update: Nick just posted screen shots of MSBuild in action.
