Yep, that's right. Calling attention to a verified, serious, and unpatched security hole in a piece of software found on nearly every Windows installation with real-world exploits in the wild and real victims confirmed by a reputable newspaper is just a cry for personal attention.

In the future please consider *reading* the linked articles before responding. Especially before expressing theories on the motivations of the post.

actually I use FireFox, Opera, IE 6/IE latest beta version according to the needs (always use the right tool for the job), in features and usability Internet Explorer 7 (by far) wins, on security I keep my self secure with any of the browsers

my point is that people just try to get attention by publishing posts like this and that's just lame

I find "la la la, I can't hear you" to be a more effective way of ignoring the obvious than "have you seen Firefox bugs." Try it; you may be pleasantly surprised at how well it works!

I *have* seen the Firefox bug list. I've also seen those few IE bugs which Microsoft and other choose to disclose. It's flat-out disingenuous to compare them. It's even less credible than your first assertion that it must be the user's fault for visiting those sites.

before you know you'll have to disable the use of any browsers for that matter?
or have you not seen the bugs that have been published about FireFox?

the biggest problem is not even in the browsers, the problem is still in the users, you are running with admin, aren't you?

>
>Yep, asking for trouble there. The only way you're asking for trouble is by using IE.
>

Where's the difference between asking for trouble and using IE? <g>

Thx, for that post, I'll see to have IE disabled on all remaining "IE masochist machines".
Finally there's an argument that sounds frightening enuough. <sigh>

From TFA:

-----
According to a list obtained by Security Fix, hackers have infected at least 200 sites, many of which you would not normally expect to associate with such attacks (i.e., porn and pirated-software vendors). Among the victims are a regional business council in Connecticut, a couple of vacation resorts in Florida, a travel-reservation site, an online business consultancy, an insurance company, and a site featuring things to do at various cities across the country.
-----

Yep, asking for trouble there.
