I use FireFoxs’ Keyword substitution feature, along with a set of canned Google search bookmarks, to achieve this. Given a bookmark with the following URL :-
http://groups-beta.google.com/groups?q=group%3Aborland.public.delphi.*+%s
performing a Google newsgroup search is as simple as typing Delphi <search phrase> in the navigation toolbar, provided you’ve set the Keyword attribute for the bookmark to ‘delphi’.
