InterBase 7.5.1 Out Now

Borland just released version 7.5.1 of InterBase. This is a free download for all InterBase 7.x registered users.

Update: To clarify and correct the previous post, this release contains one new server feature, plus some important bug fixes to both the server and the GUI tools. The new server feature is SET TRANSACTION NO SAVEPOINT, which will increase performance when running large batch jobs which repeatedly update the same records. There is also a new Performance Monitor feature (context menus on the grids) and one of the performance monitoring bugs I wrote about earlier has been fixed.

At this time the download link appears to point at the original release of IB 7.5, not 7.5.1. I presume that Borland is working on this, and I’ll update the post again when it’s fixed.

Update 2: The download has now been fixed. I have corrected the name of the release; it’s 7.5.1, not "7.5 SP 1." Also, I have learned of an additional new feature in this release: You can now create and modify server-side aliases via the Services API. IBX has been updated to support this. It’s a breaking interface change, meaning you’ll have to recompile packages which are dependent on IBX (e.g., Bold, ReportBuilder, etc.).
