The instruction screen that is displayed when you select the download (http or ftp) on Borland.com is an abbreviated instruction that may leave you short. Instead, unpack the zip file after you download it and print IBSetup.html from the zip. It is 13 pages but includes more detailed upgrade instructions.
For example:
- certain backups should be made using your 7.1 server before you get rid of it.
- stop your server before uninstalling 7.1 - the uninstall seems to execute with the server running although certain important files are not removed.
- Check instructions for Admin.IB for your users - although these are not entirely clear. Some new features require the new Admin.IB - you probably have to restore to it.
